My son is 8 and asked to start guitar lessons. We have duly paid £15 a week for the past few months but he does not seem that enthusiastic! He plays around during the lessons (until he is told off!) and we have to battle with him for thim to practice. I am wondering if I ought to stop the lessons or just continue paying and hope that he learns something! He says he wants to learn and does not want the lessons to be stopped but it seems he can not be too bothered to practice. What do people suggest? from a bemused mother!

I would give him a time limit. Tell him if he doesn’t make an effort and show that he has learnt something after so many weeks then the lessons will stop.
What about a different teacher?
If not just tell him he has to concentrate on the lessons and do some practice ( don’t force him into set amount every night) otherwise lessons will stop!
ask him to decide. let him know ur concerned.
he doesnt practise, but he still wants the lessons – what does that mean? – ask him that
I know what its like, i had piano lessons, and the novelty certainly wears off after a while, it can be quite monotonous, not like when your at home and you can play around. As someone said perhaps a new teacher that can make it fun for him again
Cancel them for the teachers sake.
